Getting the right help when you need it is critical.

Our Counseling Services

Individual

Knowing ourselves and our purpose in life are key elements to feeling whole and significant. Sometimes trauma in childhood and problems in adulthood can take us off course. Temperament Counseling can shed light on who we really are and what we should ultimately be doing with our life. It can help us understand how we are with others and why others respond to us the way they do.

Family

Family dynamics can be complicated at the best of times and the more a family member’s Temperament differs from his/her parents, siblings and other family members, the greater the likelihood there will be disharmony and dissension. Temperament Counseling can help each member understand their own unique traits and tendencies, and how they can individually and collectively create greater harmony within the family.

Couples

Temperament Counseling can reveal how each partner’s individual needs and wants are not satisfactorily being met by the other. By the same token, it can help the couple find new ways to love and support each other in a manner that is deeply fulfilling and long-lasting.

Youth

Sometimes parents or guardians, who are dealing with a rebellious teenager, can’t for the life of them understand why their youngster’s attitudes and behaviors run counter to theirs. Temperament Counseling can uncover the teenager’s temperament which, in turn, can help dissolve familial gridlock and promote emotional connectedness.

Marriage Prep/Premarital Road Mapping

The more you know yourself, the better your relationships will be. This is especially true when it comes to love relationships. Understanding your Temperament and that of your beloved will help you to create a union that is loving, respectful, and fulfilling for the long haul. Couples take a deep dive into what makes them tick individually, what they need and want from their future spouse, and how to meet those desires in workable and mutually beneficial ways.

Separation or Divorce

Rebuilding Your Life as a Single Person

Separation and Divorce constitute the death of a relationship and, as with any loss, grief is a natural part of the healing process. The break up of a marriage all too often involves shock, abandonment, betrayal, hopelessness, helplessness and much more. These emotions are natural and can be worked through in a safe and nurturing environment so that the confusing and sometimes contradictory emotions that surface in the wake of a break up can be untangled and reworked into new found hope and positivity about the future.

The Absent or Neglectful Father and Daughter Relationship

Women who grew up with an absent, neglectful or abusive father often and inadvertently bring vestiges of those interactions into their current love relationships in ways that sabotage their future happiness. Temperament Counseling uncovers and heals the maladaptive behaviors that fostered survival early in life, but that no longer serve to forge nurturing and long-lasting love relationships. This approach also allows for new ways of interacting to be learned.

Discernment Counseling

Discernment Counseling is characterized by one partner wishing to remain in the marriage while the other is wanting to get out. They are not looking for marriage guidance nor are they ready to retain an attorney. They are in that difficult, in-between stage. This approach can help both partners find clarity and a way forward. It is not designed to keep couples together nor to separate them; rather its purpose is to facilitate an outcome that is at a minimum mutually beneficial and civil. This approach can help a couple choose one of three outcomes: (i) to stay the course without pursuing divorce or seeking professional help for the marriage; (ii) to pursue separation and/or divorce; and (iii) to give the marriage six months (taking divorce temporarily off the table) to see if a reconciliation is possible.
